Terrarium Care Guides
How to care for your terrarium
In this section you will find basic advice for the care and maintenance of your new terrarium.
Terrariums are easy to maintain and should provide years of enjoyment before needing replanting.
Closed Terrarium
Closed Terrariums are pretty self sufficient; they're low maintenance, and require very little upkeep. To keep them thriving and looking fabulous, ensure your terrarium is situated in bright, indirect light (a nice sunny spot out of the suns direct rays)
All closed terrariums are pre-watered and shouldn't need any extra adding for the first couple of months. After this time, spray your terrarium with water when you notice no condensation present on the glass. By design terrariums have no drainage and excess water can cause your terrarium to fail. If the glass becomes too condensated, remove the lid to allow the excess water to evaporate.
Periodically open the glass to allow fresh airflow and to trim\ remove any plants that have outgrown the space.
Open Terrarium
Open terrariums are as the name suggests, plants within an open glass container (they have no lid or there's an opening somewhere in the glass). The care for these terrariums is slightly different to closed terrariums in that they will need regular watering.
Place your terrarium in bright indirect light (a nice sunny spot out of the suns direct rays). Terrariums containing succulents and cacti handle some direct sunlight and will need watering roughly every 3 weeks. Open terrariums containing other plants will need watering roughly once a week. Water using a spray bottle, being careful not to add too much. Terrariums have no drainage to allow water to pass through and excess water can cause you terrarium to fail.
Plants are living things and although every care is taken to ensuring healthy, thriving plants are added to each terrarium unfortunately they sometimes fail. If this happens within the first month of purchase please contact me to arrange a replacement. I unfortunately can't offer replacements after this time.
